Winners of the 2024 Russell A. Hibbs, John H. Moe & Louis A. Goldstein Awards

During the 59th Annual Meeting Barcelona, Spain, the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) announced the winners of the Russell A. Hibbs, John H. Moe & Louis A. Goldstein Awards. Named after pioneers in scoliosis surgery, the awards are given to the best basic research and best clinical research papers.

This year’s winners are:

The 2024 Hibbs Award for best clinical research paper is presented to: Long-Term Outcomes of Operative Versus Nonoperative Treatment for Adult Symptomatic Lumbar Scoliosis (ASLS): Durability of Treatment Effects and Impact of Related Serious Adverse Events Through 8-Year Follow-Up presented by Justin S. The 2024 Hibbs Award for best basic science/translational research paper is presented to: Examination of an Epigenetic Biomarker for Risk Stratification in Adult Spinal Deformity Surgeries, presented by Michael P. Kelly, MD. Read the paper abstract in the Final Program.

The 2024 John H. Moe Award for best basic science/translational research poster is presented to: Randomized Clinical Trial to Compare the Impact on Quality of Life Between Full-Time and Night-Time Braces in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis: 12-Month Treatment Outcomes, presented by Alejandro Peiro-Garcia, MD. The 2024 Louis A. Goldstein Award for best clinical research poster is presented to: Clinical and Radiological Outcomes of Posterior-Only Hemivertebra Resection and Short-Segment Fusion with Pedicle Screw Fixation in Children Under the Age of 5, Followed Until Skeletal Maturity presented by Meric Enercan, MD. Nominees for the awards are selected by the Program Committee from the submitted abstracts for SRS Annual Meeting. The nominees are invited to submit their paper’s manuscript which is reviewed by the Program Committee. During the meeting, attendees vote for their favorite presentation via the SRS Annual Meeting app and the popular votes and manuscript scores are taken into consideration by the Program Committee, who select the final winners.
