The SRS hands-on courses provide an opportunity for participants to expand their knowledge and improve their skills through training and discussions with leading spinal deformity surgeons from throughout the world. Registration will be limited to ensure access to faculty, small-group interaction for better learning, and opportunities for hands-on work. A minimum of eight hours of the course will be devoted to lab work, with a strong faculty-to-learner ratio. Topics and lab sessions will cover all areas of the spine and a variety of conditions and techniques. The intimate learning theme will begin on night one with small group “Fireside Chats” with faculty and will proceed to presentations, video demonstrations and lab rotations on day 2 and 3.

Worldwide courses typically attract 200-300 spine surgeons and the programs combine lectures, case presentations, panel discussions, abstract presentations and workshops. Faculty for each course includes three to four SRS members, selected by the Worldwide Course Committee, as well as leading local surgeons. Presentations cover a broad range of spinal deformity issues, both pediatric and adult, as well as locally pertinent topics such as cervical spine, osteoporosis, tuberculosis and others.
Worldwide Courses intend to:
- Further the global exchange of spine deformity knowledge;
- Offer continuing education to surgeons who may find it difficult or impossible to attend the SRS Annual Meeting or IMAST because of cost, travel restraints or visa issues;
- Strengthen the international community of spine deformity surgeons;
- Generate interest in the SRS, its programs, mission and membership.
